SUBSTANTATIVE COLLABORATION

It is our pleasure and honor to invite you to the 26th time to the GAZTERM Conference to be held in Międzyzdroje, Poland, on May 14-17, 2023.

The still ongoing energy crisis has exposed several weaknesses of European gas markets, especially in the structure and security of supply. However, decisions and actions taken at the international and national levels herald impending qualitative changes in the functioning of the European gas industry. Taking into account the above circumstances, we decided that the lead theme of GAZTERM 2023 should be “The New Global Energy Order”.

During the 26th edition of the Gazterm Conference, the participants of the panel “Transatlantic partnership for security of gas supplies”, moderated by Remigiusz Nowakowski, President of DISE, talked about the geopolitical background of the gas crisis in Europe, regional cooperation for energy security.

Just before the panel, Remigiusz Nowakowski presented the conclusions of the report “Gas hostage to geopolitics”, which was developed in cooperation with the European Climate Foundation.

Building zero-emission electricity generation sources with adequate capacity is the key to launching the hydrogen economy in Poland and throughout Europe. This is one of the main conclusions formulated during the discussion with Dawid Jackiewicz, Vice-President of the Management Board of ORLEN Synthos Green Energy, held as part of the 26th edition of the GAZTERM Conference in Międzyzdroje.

The implementation of an innovative technology in the form of a modular nuclear power plant – SMR should definitely improve the conditions for the development of zero-emission hydrogen production in various locations in our country – said Dawid Jackiewicz. The technological advantages of “small” nuclear power make the construction of such facilities less time-consuming (compared to large-scale power generation) and more flexible in terms of physical location. We assume that thanks to this, we will be able to efficiently optimize our offer for local and regional needs related to hydrogen production and, more broadly, decarbonisation of the economy – summed up Dawid Jackiewicz.

During the 26th edition of the conference, the topic of the gas industry was discussed in a multi- faceted manner, from strategic, regulatory, infrastructure and commercial perspectives. The conclusion of the report „Gas held hostage by geopolitics” by DISE, which once again took the event under its patronage, was presented. The most important of the issues discussed were trade relations with responsible international partners, regulatory interventions or the natural gas market in Moldova. The second day followed the theme of the green transformation of the Polish gas industry, focusing mainly on biomethane and non-emitting hydrogen. Attention was also given to cyber security and Industrial Revolution 4.0.
